the magical menstrual tour

The Dream…
Many months back, whilst relaxing in a sunny spot amidst the long tall grass in the field outside our cottage, I had an inspired idea about travelling the world sharing what I know with other people. (Isn’t it amazing what happens when you lie down and do nothing for a while?)…

The small idea slowly matured into this excited and very happy vision:

“To throw on my backpack… be like a menstrual pilgrim on the road!
Hang out with menstrual activists, wise women, ‘red tent’ groups, ‘moon mothers’, and visit their Red Tents/Groups.
Deliver my menstrual cycle awareness workshop, give my eco-activism presentation in exchange for voluntary donations (a roof over my head, a bite to eat, travel money to get me from one place to the next) so that everyone can come and listen without financial pressure.
Trust that it can work, meet happy sunny open welcoming women all over the world…. and make it a pilgrimage of sharing and giving!”

In other words I’m visualising a kind of ‘menstrual workshop sojourn’ in a town near you, where I hope to visit and speak at your red tent, gathering, group, or circle!
Since the original idea back in September 2014 I have also decided to speak about menstruation to men in a separate workshop (the men can be partners or friends of the women’s circle), experience some of the countries’ own big red tent or women’s events, continue with the eco-activism work I do (raising awareness of alternatives to disposable menstrual products)…. oh and to finally learn how to play my little yellow ukulele. (Its been a long time coming!)

Eventually I would like to travel all over the world to any country I can possibly get to(!), but recently I have felt a calling to start the ball rolling by taking the magical menstrual tour to the USA. Though I don’t know many folk in the States, there is an active and completely amazing-sounding Red Tent movement, and a huge community of incredible people who are deeply established in their work of spreading a positive message about menstruation. I can’t wait to join them/you!

I’ve got the basics down; I’m going to travel to America in April 2016, and the first leg of the tour sees me travelling from N.Y going East to Chicago! The second leg of the tour in June 2016 takes me from L.A to Seattle (and maybe flying out to Hawaii for a while!) AWESOME!
